MYKHAILO BOICHUK KYIV STATE ACADEMY OF DECORATIVE APPLIED ARTS AND DESIGN

CURRENT ART PRACTICES

We present the contemporary art exhibition “BODY/FRAGILITY”, which will be held from April 11 to May 2, 2025 in the gallery of the Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Applied Arts and Design.

Exactly one year ago, a Russian missile destroyed part of our academy. Today, marks one year after this tragic event and today we open the exhibition, demonstrating the strength of spirit, resilience and our sureness in Ukraine’s victory.

Our existence is incredibly vulnerable and fragile. It is very easy to harm, injure or destroy. Who, if not us, Ukrainians, knows this best. russia is destroying the body of our country, our mental and physical body is suffering from the wounds inflicted by the war, the planet is suffering from environmental trauma.

This is what the artists are reflecting on in their new works: installations, performances, art objects, paintings and graphics, which will be presented at the exhibition.

The curator of the exhibition is Ukrainian artist Myroslav Vayda.

The participants of the exhibition are Ukrainian artists, teachers and students of the academy, students of the course “Current Art Practices”.

The exhibition will open on April 11, at 6:00 PM at the address: Kyiv, Mykhailo Boychuk Street, 32.

A performance will be held during the opening at the site of the destroyed academy building. As part of the exhibition, systematic curatorial and artist excursions, artist talks with project participants, lectures and discussions are planned.

The exhibition will last from April 11 to May 2, 2025.
